Q&As for orders placed from 1 July onwards on price adjustment due to the VAT reduction

• Why are only articles up to 40 Euros price-adapted, and Bikeguard and shipping costs not?

  • We only adjust prices up to the 40 Euro limit since the administrative expenditure is very high, particularly for many accessory articles. We aren't adjusting the Bikeguard or shipping prices because we already subsidise costs for these in order to offer all customers excellent value on shipping.

• Who benefits from the price adjustment? What products are affected? In which period does the price adjustment apply?

  • All customers who place an order with a German delivery address will benefit from the lower prices due to the VAT reduction. We will adjust the prices for almost all our products: bikes and accessories with a value of more than €40. Excluded from the reductions are the Bike Guard box, shipping costs and services. The price adjustment is valid for deliveries from 1 July until the end of the year.

• Will my order be processed as usual after 1 July at the adjusted price?

  • Yes, as of 1 July the adjusted prices will be visible on our website and your order will automatically proceed as usual with the new price.
    
    Please note: Due to the price changes, orders placed in the first days of July will receive the order confirmation a bit later than usual. We kindly ask for your patience. You will get the ‘order received’ mail directly after the checkout, so you can be sure that your order went through.

• My billing address is outside Germany, but my shipping address is within Germany. Do I get the reduced price?

  • Yes, the shipping address is the relevant factor: the VAT reduction applies for all orders with a shipping address within Germany.

• Can I ask Canyon to put my order on hold so that my bike is not shipped before 1 July?

  • It is not possible to reschedule an order manually to have it shipped after 1 July.







Information on running orders which were placed before 1 July and are shipped after 1 July

Did you order your bike or accessories before July with the original price at that time, but the order is going to be delivered after 1 July? Below you can find information on how we’re handling the price adjustment for you. Please also note the Q&As below on the different payment methods!

• Do I have to do anything to benefit from the price adjustment resulting from the VAT reduction?

  • No. Canyon automatically passes on the VAT reduction to all customers who have ordered a product which is delivered between July and the end of the year. If you ordered your product before 1 July, you will receive an adjusted order confirmation with the updated price during the first days of July. You do not have to do anything to benefit from the VAT reduction. There is no need to cancel your current order and place a new order after 1 July!

• I have chosen credit card as a payment method. What are the next steps?

  • - If you chose credit card payment for your order and the amount has already been booked:
    We will debit only the adjusted (lower) amount from your credit card on the day of payment.
    
    - If you chose credit card payment for your order and the amount has not yet been booked:
    You will receive a new payment link from us by mail for the adjusted (lower) amount. Please confirm the reservation with the new payment link so that we can debit the adjusted amount for further processing of your order.

• I have chosen prepayment for my order. What are the next steps?

  • - If the original amount has already been debited from your account:
    We will reimburse the difference between the adjusted price and the amount already paid, once the order has been delivered to you and the 30-day return period has expired. Unless you provide us with other bank details, we will re-transfer the corresponding amount back to the account from which you made the payment. Please note that the reimbursement may take up to 4 weeks.
    
    - If the original amount has not yet been debited from your account:
    In this case, please only transfer the adjusted lower amount quoting the order number. You will find the updated price, the order number and the Canyon account details in the adapted order confirmation which we will send to you by email in the first days of July.

• I have chosen PayPal payment for my order. What are the next steps?

  • - If the original amount for your order was already pre-booked with PayPal before July:
    In this case, we will only debit the adjusted (lower) amount from your PayPal account. The difference amount from the original price will remain on your PayPal account at first. Once your order has been shipped and the 30-day return period has expired, we will cancel the difference amount on your PayPal account.
    
    - If the original amount for your order was not yet been pre-booked with PayPal before July:
    If this case, you will receive a new PayPal link with the adjusted amount in the adapted order confirmation that will be emailed to you in the first days of July. Please confirm the new payment link so that we can debit the adjusted amount to process your order.

• I have chosen financing as the payment method for my order. What are the next steps?

  • If you have chosen financing as payment method and your bike is delivered after 1 July, the purchase will continue with the original price. The financing contract will not be adjusted – even if the application for the financing is still in revision process. This is because an amendment to the contract would mean a complete cancellation of your order and a placing of a new order. Once your order has been delivered to you and the 30-day return period has expired, we will reimburse the difference between the original price and the lower adjusted price in a single payment. We will contact you in advance to obtain the bank account details you want the reimbursement to be transferred to. Please note that the reimbursement may take up to 4 weeks!

• I have chosen the JobRad payment method for my order. What are the next steps? Is there anything I need to take care of?

  • JobRad passes on the VAT reduction to their customers. Depending on whether or not the employer is entitled to deduct income tax, JobRad users will have different benefits. Detailed information will be available in German on the JobRad website from 29 June.
    
    In the first days of July you will receive an adapted order confirmation for your JobRad bike from us including the updated price.
    
    Please note:
    - If you have received an order confirmation (incl. 19% VAT) before 1 July, you have already uploaded it – including the original purchase price and EIA – and completed and submitted your application on the meinJobRad portal, it is not necessary to upload the adapted order confirmation again and enter the new EIA.
    - If you have received an order confirmation before 1 July and have not yet completed and submitted your application on the meinJobRad portal, please wait for the updated order confirmation (incl. 16% VAT) and upload the new order confirmation including the adapted EIA in the meinJobRad portal.
    
    This will ensure that the conversion rate for your JobRad bike is calculated correctly.

• I have chosen cash on delivery as payment method for my order. What are the next steps?

  • In this case you will pay the adjusted (lower) price of your order directly on delivery.

• I am a member of NATO forces. How does the VAT refund work in this case?

  • If your order delivered after 1 July is subject to 16% VAT, we will refund only the 16%. If your order was subject to 19% VAT (delivery before 1 July), you will still be refunded the 19% VAT.
