Taxes, customs and exports

Taxes and customs on your order

Depending on where you order your bike to, you may have to pay extra taxes and customs charges not displayed on the website.

  • Orders to the EU, UK, Switzerland, Norway, Japan and Singapore: you won’t have to pay any additional taxes or customs fees after you make your order. The price displayed on the website is the final amount you pay for your products.
  • Orders to any other country: we won’t include VAT or customs duties in the final price at the time of purchase. This means you may need to pay these additional charges upon delivery, depending on your country’s regulations. Please inform yourself about these potential charges before completing your purchase.

We work with Global Blue for VAT refund on goods purchased or collected from our showroom. If you’ve placed an online order for collection in person, you’ll need to enter an official non-EU residential address as stated on your passport or official ID.

Once you are registered, follow the steps below

  • Step 1 - When you collect the order, you need to ask for a receipt, a tax free cheque and a postage paid envelope.
  • Step 2- Send your receipt, cheque, and valid customs stamp to Global Blue.
  • Step 3 - You will be refunded to the account you specified.
Exporting bikes to a non-EU country

When importing a bike into a non-EU country you are responsible for checking the customs regulations and the amount of duties or tax to be paid. These costs differ depending on the country you’re in and the overall value of the bike being imported.

We ship orders with UPS and DHL Freight. In most cases, they will take care of the entire process and will invoice you for the total amount. If the delivery company doesn’t offer this service in your country, you will need to contact your local customs office.

Sending a bike to Canyon from a non-EU country

If you are sending your bike to us for servicing within the warranty period, we cover all import charges. If the bike is out of warranty, you will be charged the customs duties and import sales tax.

If the bike is being returned to a Canyon Service Centre within the EU, it’s possible to get duty-free clearance if you meet the following criteria.

  • The bike was delivered outside the EU in the last three years.
  • You have proof of the original export (export receipt or invoice with customs stamp).
  • The bike is being shipped from the same country it was delivered to.

If you live in Switzerland and want to pick your bike up from the showroom in Koblenz, you’ll need to register with Global Blue. This is a voluntary service and no legal claim exists to this service.

  • Step 1 - When you collect your bike, you’ll be given a receipt, a tax free cheque and a postage paid envelope.
  • Step 2 - Send your receipt, cheque, and valid customs stamp to Global Blue.
  • Step 3 - After 4 to 6 weeks you will be refunded to the account or credit card specified.
