Safety advice: saddle clamps for SDG I-Beam seatposts, Sender CF and Sender AL, Model years 18 & 19
03/04/2019: In the course of our regular quality inspections, it has come to our attention that in a small number of cases, fine cracks may develop in the SDG I-Beam saddle clamps on some Sender CF and Sender AL bikes (Model years 18 & 19). In extreme cases, when the saddle is under extreme load, a crack can lead to the saddle clamp breaking, affecting your bike’s performance and handling.
Potentially affected customers have been informed. New saddle clamps will be sent for replacement. We have informed all potentially affected customers personally via email and asked them to refrain from riding their bikes with the original saddle clamps. Every potentially affected customer will be provided with two new, improved saddle clamps to replace the old clamp.
For any questions regarding this safety notice, please reach out to our Service Centre team.
Quality assurance has top priority for Canyon. If there is an error in the production Canyon will contact customers and work together to correct the error.
This is the case with the Smolik forks “Motivation Race SL” of the model years 2005 and 2006. The thickness of the delivered forks was too low. Canyon has responded immediately and with a worldwide recall all customers are able to send their bikes free of charge for a free fork replacement.
Customers who are still riding with Smolik “Motivation Race SL” forks on their bike should immediately discontinue use and contact our Service Centre.
Magura recalls some of the Durin-Race forks MD 80R and MD 100R. Durin Marathon and Durin SL variants are not affected by the recall. If your fork is affected, do not use your bike as a serious accident may occur.
As part of the recall, the stanchions are exchanged and the fork is then ready to be used once again. You can send the fork directly to Magura at the following address:
Gustav Magenwirth GmbH & Co. KG
Stuttgarter Straße 48
D-72574 Bad Urach
Alternatively you can send the complete bike or fork to us at Canyon, after which we will generate a free return ticket.
Please do not hesitate to contact us for further information.
Recall: Mavic R-Sys front wheel (2008/2009)
As communicated by the component manufacturer Mavic, the front wheel spokes of the Mavic R-SYS can occasionally break. Therefore, Mavic recalls all R-SYS front wheels of model years 2008 and 2009. The use of the wheels must be ceased immediately. Mavic was able to clarify the modalities of the recall with Canyon and Canyon will contact affected customers who will receive a free Mavic Askium wheel set. A return ticket will be included in the package.
We ask that affected customers exchange the wheels and send the front wheel only back to Canyon. From the end of March to the middle of April the exchange wheels will be produced and directly sent to customers. The Mavic Askium wheel set will remain with the customer.
Further information is available on the Mavic website. Please also note changes in the Ultimate range. The Ultimate CF SLR model variants in the series Ultimate CF Record, Super Record, Red and Dura Ace are no longer available. As an alternative to this, we have the SL+ models on offer. Likewise, the model Ultimate CF 9.0 SLR W was affected by the recall. Here we offer the Ultimate CF 9.0 W SL +.
Thank you for your understanding.
Recall: Easton EA30 stem (2007-2009)
Internal controls by the manufacturer Easton have confirmed that the Easton EA30 stem can, under certain conditions, lead to a material fatigue which in turn can lead to a break in the stem and, in the very worst cases, lead to severe injury.
If you have purchased a bike with this stem, we ask you to replace the mounted stem. If you have not received an exchange for your model yet, please contact our service centre. We will exchange the item as quickly as possible for you.
