K.I.S. setup guide
Our game changing K.I.S. technology enhances your control on the trail. When properly adjusted to your terrain and riding style, you can expect more predictable handling and increased confidence. Getting everything set up is simple with our easy to follow guide.
Pre-ride checks and adjustments
Before you head off down the trails, check that your handlebars are straight and the K.I.S. system is correctly centred.
- Lift the front end of the bike off the ground and hold it by the top tube
- Turn the handlebars slightly and release them
- The wheel should settle in a straight ahead position
If the wheel doesn’t point directly ahead, the system is not correctly aligned. To adjust, follow the steps below.
- Using a 4mm hex key, loosen the cam ring. This is located behind the rubber grommet on the right of the headtube.
- Align the handlbars and check the wheel is pointing straight ahead
- Torque the cam ring to 2nm and reinstall the the rubber cover
You can also make small adjustments to the position by moving the handlebars all the way round to the rotation stop, and pushing gently on the handlebars.
Recommended K.I.S. settings
For your first few rides start by adjusting the slider forwards to set a lower system strength while you get used to K.I.S. Increase the system strength by moving the slider backwards as you get a feel for the system and how you like to ride. Below are some setup trends revealed by our internal testing that will help you dial in your setup:
- For fast, wide open tracks - Pull the slider back for stronger settings
- For tighter, twisty tracks - Push the slider forward for weaker settings
- If you’re a heavy rider - Pull the slider back for stronger settings
- If you’re a lighter rider - Push the slider forward for weaker settings
- Mullet bikes are naturally nimble - Pull the slider back for stronger settings
- 29er bikes like to roll and are stable - Push the slider forward for weaker settings
If you have too much tension in the system you might find that the bike is harder to control in tight turns or that it’s tricky to balance on narrow trails. Push the slider forward to ease the system tension and find the sweet spot.
Maintaining the K.I.S. system
K.I.S. is maintenance free, and apart from checking alignment, requires no additional care. Remember to perform a torque check every few rides.
- Slider bolt torque - 3 Nm
- Cam ring torque - 1.5 Nm
