Road Bikes with Shimano Di2

In races, on mountain passes, or on group rides - a highly precise and silent shifting makes all the difference. With electronic shifting on your road bike, you leave shifting problems behind. Change gears faster than any mechanical groupset. Discover our road bikes with Shimano Di2 groupsets.

What are the advantages of Di2 on a road bike?

Shimano pioneered the first electronic groupset in the market. Their Di2 has been the benchmark for years when it comes to road bikes. The main advantage: Most Di2 doesn't need any shift cables, which simplifies installation and saves weight. Electric impulses are sent from the shifter to the derailleur and gears, either via wire or wirelessly in the latest generation.

A mechanical groupset works with steel cables that do not provide the same level of precision and speed as Shimano Di2. When shifting under high load on hills or flat roads, the electronic groupset system has an advantage. Such shifts cause heavy wear for mechanical setups, which is why mechanical groupsets are cheaper compared to electronic systems. The Di2 battery is installed inside the frame of our road bikes, which doesn't affect the bike's aesthetics.

How long does the battery of the electronic groupset last?

The Shimano Di2 battery lasts for over 1,000 kilometres or 60 hours of riding. After half an hour of charging, you're ready to ride with a full battery for your next ride. If the Di2 runs out of battery, you will still have around 60 shifts available at the back derailleur, unlike the front derailleur. So, you'll still be able to ride to the next power outlet.

Di2 groupset on a road bike: How quick-shifting works

Quick and accurate groupsets are synonymous with Di2 technology. You can quickly transfer power to your wheels. Several components must interlock seamlessly to enable perfect gear changes. Shimano offers Di2 for Ultegra, Dura Ace and 105. Here's how the groupset works in detail:

  • Mechanics: Tiny but very powerful actuators control the shifting at the front derailleur and rear derailleur. Shifting up and down the cassette or chainrings is easy, allowing you to rely on precise shifting on any terrain for great performance.
  • Di2 Battery: At its launch, Di2 had an external battery. Nowadays, the battery sits inside the bike frame. A modern lithium-ion battery with high capacity powers Di2 on the road bike and it doesn’t require frequent recharging.
  • Fine tuning through the app: With the Shimano app, you can make adjustments to your groupset, effortlessly install updates and diagnose any errors.
