The new Lux World Cup – Canyon’s uncompromising XC race machine Canyon Lux World Cup

Shining bright with what might be the lightest full-suspension mountain bike frame on the market, a geometry that has riders flying uphill whilst inspiring confidence and thereby speed on the downhill and 100 mm of front and rear suspension, the brand-new Lux World Cup is an uncompromising Cross-Country race machine with World Cup-winning pedigree. And Canyon named it for exactly that.

Probably the lightest Full-Suspension Frame in the World

It’s simple—the less weight you’re forced to move, the faster you go. On that score, the Lux World Cup has riders covered. At 1,535 grams (measured according to DIN standards), the Lux World Cup CFR frame might be the lightest full-suspension mountain bike frame on the market – an astonishing 127g less than its already extremely light predecessor. Equally as impressive as the low weight is the fact that it hasn’t come at the expense of durability. The frame of the new Lux World Cup has actually gained strength and stiffness despite the massive weight loss, which is remarkable when one considers that the Lux World Cup meets the same Category 3 testing standards as Canyon’s trail bikes, such as the popular Neuron.

While the two CFR models feature a frame that weighs a mere 1535 grams, the CF frame (1925 grams) still beats many of the lightest full-suspension frames around. Durability and core frame features are the same across both frame platforms. The weight differences between the CF and CFR frames are purely the result of material and layup differences.

Unrivalled Climbing Efficiency meets outstanding Capability

The new Lux World Cup further improves on the core kinematics and anti-squat values that have made its predecessor a World Cup-winning, climb devouring racing machine. Combined with the frame’s extremely low weight, slight tweaks to the shock position and rocker link as well as the anti-squat and general kinematics have resulted in what is Canyon’s most efficient and fastest-climbing mountain bike ever. Simply put – this bike flies.

However, what goes up, must also come down. The Lux World Cup not only gets riders to the top of the climb first, it also gets them to the bottom of the mountain before everybody else. While the former has traditionally been almost all-encompassing in XC-racing, the latter only rose to prominence recently. The trend towards rougher, steeper and gnarlier (and more fun) racetracks in recent years has resulted in a need for XC bikes that are more capable on the downs without sacrificing climbing efficiency. So, how do you combine two opposing traits without sacrificing one for the other? Working closely with the Canyon CLLCTV, Alpecin Fenix and Canyon MTB Racing athletes, the Canyon engineers believe that they’ve solved the unsolvable puzzle.

The new Lux World Cup’s reach has grown by 15mm across all sizes while the 68.5-degree head angle is a full 1.5 degrees slacker than its predecessor’s. Combined with a shorter stem, the longer reach and slacker head angle help riders feel more centered and confident on the bike. Furthermore, to preserve the Lux’ trademark agility and efficiency, increase balance and keep the length in check, Canyon also shortened the chainstays by 5mm on all sizes. Accounting for the increase in reach and the resulting change in seating position, Canyon also steepened the seat angle by 0.5 degrees to preserve the Lux’ pedigree as one of the most efficient climbers in its category. Lastly, the seat tube was shortened by a moderate 10mm to give riders a bit more room to maneuver when things get rowdy as well as the opportunity to run longer dropper posts.

CeramicSpeed Bearings and Long-Haul Hydration

Canyon also went above and beyond with the bearings by spec’ing all CFR frames with the highly sought-after and super-reliable CeramicSpeed SLT bearings at all pivot points as well as the headset. Featuring an oil-encapsulated solid plastic polymer and stainless-steel materials, the CeramicSpeed SLT bearings are self-lubricating, corrosion-resistant, and maintenance-free and thus make sure that the Lux World Cup always performs, no matter the conditions or environments riders are facing. Oh, and they also come with a lifetime guarantee.

Big rides and long races require large quantities of water. And yet so many XC bikes barely have room for even one water bottle within the main frame. The Lux World Cup gives riders all the real estate they need within the frame to bring two large water bottles on every ride across all frame sizes (including size XS!) – something that will be especially appreciated by Marathon racers.

All together the changes to the geometry as well as the extremely light frame, high reliability and race-focused component spec make the new Lux World Cup a World Cup-dominating, climb devouring, rocket launcher of an XC race bike.
