Introducing: Torben Giehler

Torben Giehler is an artist living in Berlin. From 1995 to 1999, he was a student at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and the New York Studio Program. In 2000, Giehler had his first solo exhibition at the Leo Koenig Inc. gallery, which was followed by numerous exhibitions at galleries and museums around the world.

Hand-painted by the artist

Giehler adorned the Ultimate frame with an abstract composition in a bold colour scheme typical of his style. Giehler explains:

“It wasn’t simply about transferring a painting onto the frame. The frame is its own canvas. So I painted the frame using techniques familiar to me and evoke similar emotions to the ones in my paintings.”

A true one-of-a-kind

There is no fixed scheme or template to create the same shapes every time. Instead, every shape is taped individually and by hand, so that they all end up being unique. Every bike looks different, every Ultimate is one-of-a-kind.

"There can be a lot of ups and downs in creating a piece. Sometimes I have to redo a section after weeks of thinking it was brilliant, just to make it fit into the composition. But when all that ends up as a good painting, it feels just as satisfying as reaching the top of the Alpe d’Huez."

We top off the Ultimate CF SLX frame with a wireless 12-speed SRAM Force eTap AXS groupset. Zipp 404 Firecrest wheels fit perfectly with the bike’s aesthetics – and combined with Continental GP 5000, deliver incredible performance at a low weight.
